Twitter Tips For Bloggers

With the increasing popularity of Twitter on the Internet scene, many bloggers have wondered if their blog can benefit from a Twitter account and if so, how.

You only have to look at the massive growth in popularity of Twitter especially over the past year to realize that the answer to this question is yes. Social media is just one of the hottest new tickets in the online world, and along with scores of other traffic generating techniques, a Twitter account may just serve to push your Internet marketing efforts over the edge.

Below, we offer you a few tips on how you can make Twitter work for you. Before we get into that however, we have to emphasize the importance of not using it for spamming…

Using Twitter for that purpose will likely undermine your efforts, and render your Twitter account useless. That being said, on with the tips!

  1. Put some personality into your Twitter account. You will want to make your Twitter content as interesting and as attention grabbing as it can possibly be. There are few things worse than Twitter accounts that are totally devoid of personality. If you have to completely warp your persona just to draw in the crowds, so be it!
  2. Don’t use your Twitter account to advertise updates. While many web sites with a large following can get more readers based on announcing new content, chances of you doing so are fairly slim.
  3. Join in. Twitter is all about communication, and that goes both ways. Try to reply to any direct queries and join in on the conversation whenever possible.
  4. Follow the crowd, but keep within reason. Adding people may seem like a great way to add more readers, but you have to be careful about trying too hard. You will gain far more favorable results if you take it slow.
  5. Find like-minded people in similar niches. Take advantage of web sites that group people into different categories based on their interests. You can then target the people who are more likely to be interested in what you have to say.
